Vacation Planning
Next time you head out of town on a vacation, create a unit study out of the planning experience.
Here are some learning activities that your kids can do online to plan your next vacation:
- Make a tri-fold brochure of the places they would like to visit. Most word processing software has templates for brochures. This a good, real-life way to learn about using templates and columns in documents.
- Map the route and determine the shortest and fastest routes using Google Maps.
- Search for the best hotel, airfare, and car deals online. Keep track of it all with a spreadsheet. Try zoho.com for a great online spreadsheet.
- Plan your stops.
- Check the weather forecast at weather.com.
- Load up your mp3 players with audio books from Lit2Go. Also, search online for free audio podcast tours of museums and attractions you plan to visit.
