Digital Storytelling

Step 1: Writing your story

Any great movie / digtial storytelling project starts with planning out your story. Part of the planning process is actually writing a script or narration. Celtx is a professional screenwriting software that is free. It also includes storyboarding and charactor development sections.

Step 2: Gather your materials

Images and Video
The images could be anything from digital photos to computer created graphics. They should visually show the story you have created. You can use historical photos or even use video clips. Just be sure to respect copyright laws.

Sources of Images and Videos

Music and Sound Effects
Adding in music and sound effects create a much more professional finished product. Once again, please be sure to use music that does not violate copyright laws.

Step 3: Put it all together

Creating the video
If you are using a PC with Windows XP or Vista, you probably already have the free Windows Movie Maker software. There is a good tutorial on using Windows Movie Maker.......

Step 4: Posting it online

There are many ways you can host your videos online. YouTube is one of the most popular, but there are other places more student friendly. SchoolTube is a good option!
